ASN (Advance Shipping Notice) is an EDI message sent by a supplier to the customer providing details of the delivery which is due.
It allows the customer plan for stock put-away, stock rotation and order fulfilment before the goods are even received. This helps ensure efficient internal processes.
Currently Tesco Ireland and Dunnes Stores require ASN notification of deliveries from many of their suppliers.
