Some of the larger multiples require certain suppliers to provide advance notification of the goods being issued to them prior to the goods being received. This allows them automate stock management within their systems and plan where they will store the goods before they even arrive. Each pallet of stock requires a pallet header to be affixed to it with a unique pallet identification number detailed in barcode format. Details of the contents of the pallets will be sent through EDI as an “Advance Shipping Notice”. Typically this will contain the details of the product, its batch number and its best before date and it must be submitted at least 2 hours before the goods are received at the customer’s depot. Our ASN Generator software produces the pallet header and the corresponding EDI file, ensuring you meet your customer’s requirements.
